Leaks: GTA 6 release date and location
This year’s festive period was abundant with new rumors on GTA 6. One of Twitter’s users suggests that the title will be released in 2021, and an employee of Rockstar Games is boasting about his presents from the company, among which there are sewing prints with Columbia and Jamaica flags on them.
PSErebus and the Trail of Accurate Reveals
The rumors relating to GTA VI have been going on for several years. It can be confidently said they started not long after the release of the series V. But this is how it is with enormous brands anticipated by the whole gaming world. The latest news suggests that GTA VI will go on sale in the fall of 2021. Such information was announced by a Twitter user, PSErebus, by nickname. It’s worth adding that he’s also the author of a lot of “backstage info” relating to PlayStation 5 – in the past, he revealed, among others, the release date of The Last of Us Part II long before Sony unveiled it.

It’s worth remembering that earlier rumors mentioned the release date as Christmas period, 2020. It would’ve been related to the consoles of a new generation (in the case of PS5, it was supposed to be a lasting exclusivity).
More interesting are yet the differences between the particular versions of the game. We don’t have any official info on the target platforms; however, as the premiere is allegedly set for 2021, we can unthinkingly assume the debut for PS5 and the new Xbox. The PC version (looking at the studio’s previous titles) is likely to be released with an ‘appropriate’ delay. An open card is still the case for PS4 and XONE.
There’s one more exciting leak in the last few days. It’s very likely that due to this year’s Christmas (or, more appropriately to say: “on the occasion of”), we’ve found out where the action of the upcoming title will be set. And what’s interesting is that this news goes viral ‘directly’ from the studio.
So, during the festive period, Rockstar started to send presents to its employees. One of them put a photo of the gift on Twitter, and even so, he changed his profile to private shortly afterward; these members of the Reddit forum quickly took over the photo. We can see a few sewing prints with the company logo and iconic passwords for the series. Two of them draw much attention because they include the flags of Jamaica and Columbia. See it for yourself, anyway.
From South America to Columbia
That was enough for the curious fans to speculate about the game location. The GTA VI would take us both to South America and Columbia (though among the presents, there are references to Vice City and Los Santos). Doesn’t it have to do with earlier rumors? Yes. Exactly! We mentioned that the Narcos series would inspire the new GTA in June. The game would continue to be set in the 70s and 80s of the XX century in Vice City and the Rio de Janeiro lookalike city. We would impersonate Ricardo – the narcotic smuggler.
In September, one of Reddit’s users (referring to the source inside the studio) would assure that the GTA VI was the Project Americas – the name had already appeared numerous times along with previous, mostly false leaks. Almost all rumors confirm the theme of Vice City and the action set in several locations. Who knows, perhaps we will shoot in slightly more ‘exotic’ places in the newest GTA?
